I was going to write a preamble to these short films by Greg, but I decided to let them speak for themselves. Enjoy.

  1. Wow, these are incredible! I especially like the “Drag the River” video. I’ll have to give that first one another watch.

  2. Wow. Thanks for sharing these works of Greg, Eric. I must say that I enjoyed the three works presented here very much. I know that you may have not meant to do such things, but I found Dolphy and Drag the River to complement each other very well, and not just because of the music/image combination. I’m going to try to frame this as to not saying that you Greg the creator is the character I’m talking about in these two pieces, though I think that is a bit inescapable. But here goes, In “Dolphy” the busy and filled streets composed with repetitive editing and image movement that broke the frame surrounding it contrasted greatly to the mostly fixed images that presented motion within the frame of “Drag the River”. It is apparent that the character, the eye, the image conductor is not only looking at these things moving, but he is also being moved in different ways by that which he percieves the two things. That interchanging of feelings seems to be evident in both, and I dig that a lot. The fact that I was able to feel very distinct emotions reflected in the two, but also see that they share some similarity in style was very strong as well, and therefore perhaps same character of viewing these things, impressed upon me the most upon my first viewing.

I think basically what I just wrote expressed my thoughts so poorly that it might be worth disregarding it altogether. But from my scattered and stressed brain in this moment, thats how I experienced them. I look forward to viewing these again, for they produced a response in me worth exploring further.
